Agreed! We were on the Star last June on a cruise to Alaska. A really beautiful ship with lots of fun things to do. We spent a lot of time in the game room on deck 12, which is steps away from the Spinnaker Lounge which is all the way to the front of the ship. A nice, big lounge where there was always a lot of action. We spent a lot of time in there too, looking out the floor to ceiling windows.
The Versailles dining room is truly elegant. The Aqua and Versailles are the 2 main dining rooms with the same menu, but different surroundings. Versailles is prettier but Aqua was easier for us to get to.
I recommend that you eat at least once in the Blue Lagoon if you like old English style fish and chips. Yummy! Open 24 hours.
Also, Endless Summer is a very beautiful restaurant because of the "painted" or "stained" glass ceilings. It is Tex Mex, and even though there is no extra charge for eating in there you have to make a reservation. Their menu stays the same every day - good food.
In the Java Cafe they have cookies every day - no charge.
The Market Buffet is OK too. We ate there for breakfast most days. The only problem is finding a place to sit together for 6 people if you go at peak times. Even though it's a large area with lots of tables, it seemed to be really busy.
If you want anymore info about the ship, please feel free to ask! I love to talk about it.
