I'm not planning on writing a review, sorry. I'm back up to regular speed in my non-cruising life, and there isn't enough time. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions though. It's a beautiful ship! We were still getting lost at times on the 5th and 6th day. We ate Traditional Late seating in the Amalfi dining room. I miss Luis, our waiter, the most! Our room steward was Sandie, and I miss him terribly also! Ask a question and I'll answer to the best of my ability. I still wish we were there :)

We were on the Star the first week of June and went through PCD for a long time afterwards! Also have nothing but good to say about our cruise. Everything was the best.

I am new to this board ...found it from Cruise Critic. I want to go on a Princess cruise. I have heard so many good things. Looking @ Alaska 2005 July (20th Anniversay !). Any advice on shore excursions? I have ordered the bouchure from Princess. I cant wait to get it! I hope the Star is smaller than what CCL ships I ve been on.

If you're hoping for the Star Princess to be smaller than the CCL ships, I think you're out of luck... Star is a monster, biggest class of the Princess fleet -- 109,000 tons / 2,600 passesngers. If you want a smaller ship take one of the "Sun" class ships - - Sun or Dawn - 77,000 tons / 1,900 passengers ...or the Regal - slightly smaller but roomier, and really nice. ...or if you want one that still slightly resembles a ship rather than a building, take the Royal, it's close to 20 years old now, but still pretty nice for its age.

Princess pretty much puts their whole fleet in Alaska during the summer, so you'll have your choice of ships. July '05 is a long way off though, so it's hard to know what they'll have sailing up there at that time. Don't necessarily rule out the "Grand" class ships (Grand, Golden, Star)... even though they're big, you still get a really nice experience on them.

I think you'll like Princess.

Good Luck !

I agree with DJA about the Sun or Dawn being a wonderful "smaller" ship, as we have been on both. The Star is a fabulous ship and we enjoyed her alot. She is big and we did have some problems getting to certain areas for a few days. Check out the view from the disco. Kinda hard to find the entrance but worth the time to find.

Enjoy your trip. Princess is out favorite line.
