Starboard or Portside which is the best for Inside passage cruising

This is my first cruise to Alaska. We are considering Infinity from Vancouver on July 9,2006. One member of our group feels that the balcony state rooms on the starboard (right side) of the ship are preferable going north. I have done extensive research and discussions with the previous cruisers to AK.I am informed that this is not true for a cruise through inside passage as the nature and scenery is on both sides to enjoy, so starboard or port (left side) does not rellay make any difference. I will greatly appreciate if any of you, who have cruised the inside passage previously give me information. I am looking forward for this trip to be a unique and life time experience and want to get the best out of it. I welcome all suggestions. Thanks.

As Infinity does up and back it really doesn't matter....and those that you have spoken to are correct anyways it's great both sides..... and if you really want to take it all in. Warm drink in hand on the aft deck out of the wind is even better. See both sides and the Killer whales jumping behind you. (If you're are lucky)

We cruised May 2007 on the Princess Diamond. We had an aft cabin and loved it. You can't go wrong with Alaska. Cruisers from Ohio.

Like they said, either side is great. Aft is perfect. Infinity is a great ship to sail the Inside Passage on, like BSBob said, grab a warm drink and go aft. The IP is narrow enough that as you sail through it, you will see both sides pretty clearly. And when you go by a glacier (Hubbard?) the capt. on the Infinity will turn the ship around so that what ever side you are on, you'll get a great view.

Did you book the June 9 cruise? Are their balconys left 2 months prior?

Posting from my huge veranda in room 9164 (Deck 9, aft, center) On the Infinity now folks... just pulled into Ketchikan and watching the Statendam pull right up behind us at dock. Looks like at least 3 ships in today.

Anyways... go aft! There is not nearly as much front to back movement then side to side, so I say the best cabin in the ship is one with a veranda on aft center. Ill post a pic in a sec of my view :)

wow thanks

You are a lucky camper. Not only on the ship but you get to dock this week. Infinity mostly tenders there this year.

When we were in Ketchikan in June 05 we docked. I remember being amazed that we could dock, walk off the ship, across the street, and start shopping! Major shopping there!
