Which ship and itinerary? Is this for your upcoming Norwegian Gem cruise, or another booking?

they are saying that I can upgrade for like 200 a person and I wanted to know if it's worth it really. the upgrade is from a room with balcony to a mini suite

Hello! My husband and I were upgraded to a suite on the Dawn ship and I have to say, it was the way to go! Not only did we get the bennefits of first on at check in ( which is generally a first come first serve basis that can take hours ) which is WELL worth the $, but we also had a consiere ( sorry, not sure the spelling of that one) who not only booked our dinning for us in the specialty restaraunts, but also got us into the dinning rooms even when they were fully booked. The tv had a built in dvd player and a list of new released dvd's that came in handy on the nights that we felt like being lazy. The balcony too was much larger, a HUGE part of my cruising is just hanging on the balcony with a glass of wine. Slippers and bathrobes were provided, bathrooms were MUCH bigger than the traditional staterooms and had bathtubs as well as a shower. We were also supplied a fresh fruit basket every morning and sweets in the evening. The room service menu too offered MUCH more than the usual bagels or yogurt that you get with the staterooms. In my opinion, YES, take the suite! But be prepared to book it again and again, once in a suite even a balcony room feels smothering! Happy sails!:wave

There is a big difference between a mini-suite and a SUITE. We have had both a mini-suite and a regular balcony cabin on the Jewel. they are nearly identical-the mini-suite has about 12" more space in front of the bed. In my opinion, that extra foot is not worth the $200. We were lucky enough to get the mini-suite at the same price as the balcony, which is why we chose it. there is no concierge or other benefits like with a full suite.

Most of the extra space in a mini-suite can abe accoounted for in the areas next to the door; a larger closet and the bath room, with a full size bath tub instead of just a shower.
The question you must answer is whether you wish to take a bath is worth $200 more than a shower?

The issue I am in is that I booked my trip in july for October and after I made final payment the prices of the room with balcony went down.

so the upgrade for the mini-suite would be my way of recapturing that loss and pay 100 per person to jump to the next class.because the price went down on the mini suite as well.

but is it possible for someone get bumped to the suite when they are on the guaranty for a mini-suite ?

Theoretically it is possible to jump from a mini to a full suite, but I have never seen it happen in many years of cruising. Normally they will upgrade you to a higher catefgory of the same type of room (i.e., inside to better inside or balcony to better balcony), but usually the curise line does not jump cabin type without payment. I honestly don't think the mini-suite is worth the extra money.
