We stayed in the Queen Mary Hotel a few years ago, although not in conjunction with a Carnival cruise. I'd suggest going with the highest level of accommodation your budget will allow. There were three of us, so we opted for a suite with a second bedroom. I also saw a deluxe stateroom, and it seemed nice. Avoid the interior staterooms, if you can (no light), and note that the standard staterooms have a full-size, not king-size, bed.I highly suggest taking a tour, either guided or on your own. The World War II tour was fascinating, and I am not a war history buff. Keep in mind that the Mary has gone through many changes, some very drastic, since becoming a hotel. I had the best fun, though, exploring places off the beaten path. There is enough signage to let you know what you are seeing.
