Stingray City - for non-swimmers?

We will be in Grand Cayman over the Christmas Holiday this year, on RCCL's Voyager. We have heard good things about Stingray City, but are a bit hesitant because some in our party are not swimmers or are weak swimmers. Is this an excursion that can be enjoyed by swimmers and non-swimmer's alike. Also, for non-swimmers, which tour operator would anyone suggest?

Ah the Cayman's =love and Sting Ray City..is for both swimmers and non-swimmers..the water is chest to waist high..it is a sand bar and water is mostly calm..and so beautiful..I have been 2 x in 10 years and would go again in an NY minute..:grin...ths Sting Rays are lovable gentle playful almost like puppies that glide around and bump / tap into you for attention..they will teach you how to do the "Sting Ray Shuffle"..so as not to hurt one and even hold /feed them..Enjoy..=love one of my ultimate favorite excursions ever..all of the ship sponsored tours are reliable..Capt Marvins is vouched for hundreds of times off ship hosted for reservations too, and Capt Sotos....enjoy it all...:grin...:)..Joanne

you can wear a llife vest if you want to and the crew will help you get to the sand bar where you can stand without a problem

Stingray sandbar is about waist deep so you don't have to swim and it won't be above your head......It was so much fun! I highly suggest a tour there.

I Contacted Native Ways and here was their response. Is this enough time their price is $25 per person.

Hi,

Greetings from Grand Cayman...and thanks for contacting us!

The only tour time that we have available departs the pier at 10 AM Central Time (11 AM ship) and completes at 12:45 PM.

We used Nativeways in March for the stingray tour and they were AWESOME!
They make a DVD or VHS video of the entire trip and you can purchase it afterwards.
Our ship was about to leave in 2 hrs and she made the DVD and had it delivered to the pursers desk before we left! Great service. I'd use them again.

Just a suggestion, since you have non-swimmers in your group. Make sure to only book the Stingray City tour and not one with other snorkeling stops (unless your non-swimmers want to try to snorkel, which is possible as the tour company will provide you will life vests). The other snorkel stops are usually at the Coral Gardens which is too deep to touch bottom. No sense paying for a more expensive tour when all you will want is the Stringray City portion. We used Captain Marvins, they were fantastic! But I have heard good things about all of the independent companies in GC. Also, do book with one of these independent tour companies, not with the ship. Less money, less people, and really a great experience. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Our Nativeways tour was from 9am til about 1pm that day...they have 2 tours though...one in the morning and one in the afternoon....Since we needed to be back to our ship by 3pm or something like that we opted for the morning tour.

We took the tour with the cruise. We seen Nativeways tours. I'm a non swimmer too but it was fun. I'm only 5'7 and the water only came to my tummy. So I was safe. The boats all have life jackets if you feel you may need one. That was fun.
