Hello and =welcome to Cruise @ddicts.I agree with you wholeheartedly. The Steve Irwin incident and the Ray that supposedly "jumped" in to a fishing boat were freak accidents. I was swimming with the Rays at Shark Ray Alley in Belize just the week before the Steve Irwin tragedy. I've also been to Stingray City twice. I would not hesitate to do it again any time. I have heard of some people changing their plans about swimming with the stingrays, that's a shame. They will be missing out on a wonderful experience but to each his own.Having said that I do believe I will be a little more cautious in the future about not "cornering" or spooking one. We must always remember that when diving we are visiting these and other sea creatures in THEIR homes If we don't behave like un-wanted guests we'll enjoy the privelage of sharing the ocean with them peacefully.
