Stingray Swim Question

Has anyone done the Stingray swim and snorkel with RCI in St. John, Antigua? We did the one in Grand Caymen last year and loved it . Is this one the same? I have heard some stingray excursions are in a sheltered caged off area. We don't want to do that kind of excursion. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I didn't do the Antigua one but very good friends did it in March and they had also done the one in Grand Cayman and they both were very disapointed. They both said pretty much the same thing, there were hardly any stingrays, the water wasn't as nice and the ride out to the sandbar was awful. I had planned to do the stingrays in Antigua the following week when I was there but I decided against it based on this, these two have done over 25 cruises all over the world and they like everything!!!

Happy Cruising!!!!

Thanks for the information. We really enjoyed the Grand Caymen excursion and were afraid we would be disappointed with this one since I have not found too many people who have tried it. Sounds like I'll start looking for another excursion there. Any ideas?

Sorry it took a while to reply, had a little hurricane trouble.

When we were in Antigua in March part of my group got off the ship and found a taxi driver and requested an island tour. They have several different ones available that differ in length and what part of the island you see. Frankly when you get off the ship in Antigua its not very impressive...busy , dirty and a little scary. Four of us paid $60.00 total plus tip and took a four hour tour of the island. We went high into the mountains, low to the most beautiful beach and through the rain forest and into some interesting towns and villages. It was beautiful....

Others in my goup did the 4X4 off off road excursion booked onboard the ship and they too had a wonderful time. I think they paid around $70.00 each.

The island is so pretty as long as you leave the port area.

So if I was too go back there again I would do an island tour again. Its a great way to pick up the local color and see history in some of the old buildings and forts etc...from pirate days and revolutionary times.

Hope this helps,

Happy Cruising!!!!!!

My sisters and mom hired a taxi to Nelson's Dockyard and some got some of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. The foilage and views were spectacular. They really enjoyed themselves.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are going with another couple and this will be their first cruise. We are water people ( we scuba) so I was hoping the stingray was as nice as Grand caymen. The land tour looks like the way to go in Antigua.

Thanks again
