Suggestions for "crashing" a hotel on Nassau

Hi. We are going to be in Nassau in July for our Wonder cruise stop. We stayed at Atlantis 3 years ago & have already done Stewart Cove snorkeling in Nassau, so we don't want a repeat of those.

I was thinking of staying at Sandals Royal Bahamian for the day, but they charge 100.00 per person, too much for us.

We wanted to go to a nice beach or "crash" a hotel. Any hotel suggestions? Are some hotels easier to hang out at than others?

Or can anyone recommend a hotel that does not charge that much to use beach/pool.
Thanks for any advice,

~ Marina

There's a hotel, the British Colonial Hilton, located very near the cruise ship piers and downtown Nassau with a nice pool and a small beach. It's nothing like Atlantis or the mega resorts, but it's close, convenient, and I believe it's only $15 per person to use the pool, beach and grounds. You can also order food and drinks out at the pool (but you'll have to pay extra, of course.)

You can find out more at: http://www.hiltoncaribbean.com/Nassau/

My wife and I planned to base our Nassau port day here, but realized the two 18-year-olds we're traveling with might prefer the spectacle of Atlantis. The downside to the daily fee at Atlantis is that it doesn't give you access to the pools. (It's mostly beach and grounds and some acquarium exhibits.) But there are three pools on the ship, so we'll have plenty of pool time that week.

Anyway, the Hilton looks good 2 me.
