Suite Benefits

Hi,

Was wondering if there were any "gratuities" that come with a Cat 11 or 12 on Carnival. Several other cruise lines offered some goodies when you were in suites.

Suite guests receive priority boarding as well as debarkation. If you have any tender ports, you will also have priority on tendering.

As far as bennies with the suites, not many. As far as boarding in the so called "skipper club" you need to ask and ask again at the port. In Ft lauderdale you will (at least in March of 2006) we got blank stares untill we found a lady upstairs that knew what we were talking about. In Miami, they took care of our paperwork walked us upstairs and we waited with everyone else. The only port that had their act togeather was New Orleans. Well marked, well staffed, and took care of you. Walked us thru everything and even to the gangway. As far as tenders, we did not get any special treatments at all. As far as getting off early to avoid the crowd, we had to wait until our color was called. So if you ask me, there reallly are no perks to speak of. You do get large cabins, a whirlpool tub, dressing area and makeup area for the lady, 2 sinks in the head along with a bidet, a large balcony, seating area, room for a small get togeather with friends. And lots of storge space for all that luggage, and guys, there is even left over hangers and dresser drawers for you to use. In short, it is our vacation, our money, and our home for a week or more, and yes my wife and I do spend time in our cabin. I ahve posted pictures of some of the cat 12's my wife and I have enjoyed on this board. take a look.

its priority check in only-- not boarding- you still get in line with the other people who have already checked in.
The prioty tender tickets is for platinum members not suite quests.

Hmmm. Serene, I did not find that to be the case when boarding the Glory April 15 of this year. I was booked in a cat 11 suite, followed the signs to V.I.P. checkin and was escorted to a private area where we got our Sail&Sign cards, etc. We were then escorted past the other boarding passengers and onto the ship. That was my experience in Port Canaveral.

In Tampa and Fort Lauderdale.. people behind was suite members. No one offered them the priviledge of priroty boarding. Even the wording on carnivals page states priority check in=--

We have found out that each port is differnt. Kind of like, right hand not knowing what the left is doing or has said it would do. Carnival has no idea they just say this and that and than claim it is the folks who run the pier that are at fault. As i said earlier, larger cabin and balcony, worth it.

We made friends on a long wait for the ship to arrive our last cruise. They were Skipper's Club members...and although the port wasn't totally set up for it - special waiting area etc...they did get to go to the head of the check in line and they were called to board the ship before the rest of us.

We've only been in the Skipper's Club once and it allowed us priority check-in but not priority boarding.

I think that much of the confusion is associated with implementation of Carnival's Concierge Club which began in May of this year. The benefits for "platinum" guests are different from those associated with "Skipper's Club". Concierge Club benefits are for guests sailing for the tenth time or more on a Carnival ship; cabin category notwithstanding. Details at http://www.carnival.com/CMS/articles/concierge_club.aspx

I agree Cruzman, but if you also look in carnivals sail away booklet, you see how they promote the skippers club. I just cant figure out why the differnt ports, Ft lauderdale, Miami, and New Olreans, all have differnt ideas of Skipper Clubs. I still believe Carnival needs to get their act togeather on how they handle them at all ports. Why not give the suite holders the same benifits as the Concierge Club members?

Randk, I couldn't agree more! I'd like to maybe take it a step further and extend HAL's suite benefits to Mariner's at a certain level; perhaps their current "red" level (50 to 99 days) would be appropriate. Princess already offers guests with 15 or more cruises, the same benefits as their suite guests.
