Suite Mini Bar and Soft Drink Cards on the Rotterdam

Does anyone know what they charge for the alocholic and non-alocholic drinks from the mini bar in the suites on the Rotterdam?

Is the cost more, less or the same as room service?

I notice on the internet that you pay for your soft drinks on Holland America, or you can buy a "soft drink card", if you do that, and you order from room service pop, do you still pay?

Seems a little nickle and dime for pop doesn't it?
or maybe my information is wrong, in which case please correct me!

Thanks for the help

Mark,

I'm afraid that they do charge for the goodies in the mini bar, or should I say, at least they did when we were in the S category. Maybe it is different in the PH, but I doubt it. I belive the soft drinks and non alocholic are the same price as in the bars, but my memory on this is not all that clear. And if you order from room service, there is a charge for both items. The soda card works only for drinks that are served in the bar areas in a glass only; the cans are not included in this program. You can order a soda in the dinning room using your card, and again, it will come to you in a glass. I do know that the Kit Kat bar my DD ate was not worth the $4.00 we were charged, so beware. There is a price list provided. I hope this helps a bit. Maybe someone who has stayed in a PH can provide some input.

Hi Sage,

Passangers pay all that $$$ (regardless of what cabin they are in, its a lot of $$$) and Holland America charges for soft drinks!!! Haven't they heard of bottomless drinks for $1.99??? The cost of syrup is very little. :(:(:( Now that is nickle and diming!

If I order a glass of water through room service is there a charge?
If not, guess what I am ordering when I am thirsty - water with lemon.

In the conceriege lounge for the suites, do they have soft drinks for free? Or are they charging there too?

For the choclate bar, they can wait a long time for me to pay $4.00, i'lll just order room service at 3 in the morning instead if I get the munchies. Choclate cake = choclate bar

(tongue and cheek) > Do they search you and confiscate choclate bars and soda too upon arrival at the ship ?????

:)

Good afternoon Mark,

I'm afraid that they don't have sodas in the Neptune Lounge, but they have just about everything else. They have a large selection of juices all day long as well as ice tea, coffee and a lovely hot tea selection. In the morning they have wonderful breakfast pastries, and in the afternoon and evening, they put out lovely sandwiches and tarts and other desserts. They also have hand made chocolates out as well. The chocolates range from white, to milk and even dark chocloates, some cream filled. They are very thoughtful in providing plates right next to the chocolates, so I fill my plate and head back for the suite. They also have a decent collection of sugar free sweets out as well. It seems though with our huge fridge, we should be able to go to the Lido and pick a lovely dessert and bring back to the suite to enjoy for later. I can hardly wait for you to get back and give me your opinion of the suite and the "suite life".

Having trouble waiting my turn,
Sage

Sage,

Look at the bright side, :)

sure, we will try out the PH before you, but then you will still be looking forward to your cruise and ours will over :(

You are right, with that large fridge, we can raid the main sculley and bring the stuff back for whenever we want :):):):):):):):)...

But what do we do about the drinks? How do we get them back without anyone seeing us????

Sage has stated it exactly right.

You will find no need to order ice water from room service. You will always have a replenished ice bucket and you can easily pour yourself a glass of water.

All "mass market" cruise lines charge for soft drinks. Soda has never been included on HAL (at least in recent years) and for those who do not wish to buy a soda there is always complimentary iced tea available in Lido.
