Suites

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, but I love cruises.

For my 30th wedding anniversay, my husband and I are thinking about either a Western or Eastern Carribean cruise.

And we're thinking of splurging on a full suite.

For anyone who has stayed in a full suite before, was it worth it? Are some decks better than others? The ones on the Aloha deck seem to be right under the pool and I can't imagine that you don't hear a lot of noice, especially at night when they put the floor over the pool and create a nightclub.

TIA for any info.

We're booked a balcony cabin- right next to those big suites . . . under the pool deck . . . If you can wait 9 weeks, I'll tell you! :)

We're sailing on 10/26, Web. Sorry we'll miss you.

We always try to do suites. I like the aft suites the best cause you watch the waves listen to the wake very romantic!! We are celebrating our 30th anniversary next March and you guessed it we are booked in an aft suite!

We did a mini-suite for our 25th in 2007, and it was a great decision. We were on Dolphin deck in the center of the ship at D608. It was wonderful. This year we were in a basic balcony on the Lido deck, and didn't enjoy it nearly as much. I guess we were spoiled from the previous year. My advise... go to the mini-suite especially if it is a special occasion.

I've been seated at dinner with people on several cruises who had the BIG suites and they were very disappointed (for the money). I attended a few gatherings in some of them. They're great if you want to entertain, etc. but they are SO MUCH more expensive, so think about how much time you really intend to spend in the cabin. I can't imagine spending that for a suite, when I could take 4 veranda cruises for the same money.

One thing that really annoyed a guest who was about 70 years old, was her butler called her by her first name, which she found offensive. Again, it's a lot of money....so like everything else about cruising, it comes down to what your priorities are.

Just got back, and I must say I loved the suite. Yes, it was a lot of money, but for a special occaision (our 30th anniversary) it was worth it.

I loved the space with the couch and the huge balcony with real teak furniture including 2 full-length loungers and actually spent a lot of time there instead of the public areas--it was very nice to have the privacy.

There are also lots of perks from Princess with a suite--flowers, a bar set-up, priority embarkation (we were on the ship in 20 minutes and if we would have had to stand in the regular line it would have been about an hour), full dining room menu for room service, free canapes every evening, free laundry, free internet.

We can't afford it every time, but I think in this case it was money well spent.

BTW, Princess no longer has a butler, so we just had our room steward. I don't think I missed that--our room steward was excellent and I never had any problems.
