Hi Paljoeysmom:

Yes, we will be going on The Sun Princess on 10/19/05 to the Southern Caribbean. I'm greatly looking forward to it as I always enjoy the Southern Caribbean. We are frequent cruisers and is what we enjoy very much. We've traveled on the Golden and Grand Princess, but never the Sun. Have you been on this one before?

We are working on what, if any, tours we are going to do. We've been on a lot of cruises and find that sometimes it works out better not to take the cruise tours. It all depends if we've been to the destinations before. When we go to Dominica, it will be our first time, and we will probably opt for a tour. A lot depends, too, whether it is easy to get around after walking off the ship.

As we live in Florida, we won't have too far to travel. There will only be the two of us in our party. We have a cruise in September going north to Nova Scotia and one later next year in April. With planning tours with these three ships, I'm going around in circles. Interspersed with these we first have a trip to Branson in August and have a week in Orlando in October, before the cruise.

Hoping we can exchange information. Until then . . . wishing you happy cruising . . .

Greetings Joko Joan,

We are also huge cruise fanatics. The Sun Princess will be our 19th cruise. Like you we have another one in the hopper going to the Med, in Sept 2006. This is our 3rd Princess cruise. We were on the old Crown Princess in '98, from Hawaii to Tahiti, and on the Sapphire 10 months ago. We have cruised on HAL, RCCL, NCL, PRINCESS, CELEBRITY, & CARNIVAL.

We were orginally booked on the Sun departing 10/9. Then my husband's friend invited him to be best man at his wedding on October 15th, so we moved the date. When in the Caribbean we usually do our own independant tours, found with the advise from this board, and a few others. It works out GREAT!

We were in Dominica 2 years ago, and experienced the most wonderful independent tour. We used Ken Hinterlands Tours. He has a website, and his employees will meet you at the ship with a BIG sign with your name on it. We did an island tour, then to Trafalgar Falls and Ti Tou Gorge. Because our group was over 4 people (we had 14 folks that I met on the cruise sites, which I invited to join us) the cost was $25 each for a 3-4 hour tour. I highly recommend this tour.

We live in close to San Francisco, but usually fly to FL for most of our cruises, since we adore the Caribbean. In April we took a cruise out of New Orleans which was teriffic! We had so much fun!
CA is great if you like going to Alaska, Hawaii, or the Mexican Riveria.

I noticed Boymom is also going on this cruise, but she hasn't found us yet. Let's stay in touch.

Hi Paljoeysmom:

Do you have an email for Ken Hinterland tours? Another name given was roynotours@hotmail.com. A group of ten had highly recommended a tour run by beno but they filled up his tour bus rapidly. I'm trying to see, also, if he might have someone that might run another bus like in a caravan. He only takes 10 on his bus. Dominica is one of the places we haven't been to before and would like to take a tour there. When it comes to places we've already been to, well, we like to play it by ear - sometimes getting a tour on our own with a couple of other couples. Well, as far as Ken Hinterland, I'll try doing a search with that name and see what happens.

Hi:

I was looking at the pictures of the Ken Hinterland tours and it looked like the people were on a "hike" and looked like a tour we had taken in Hawaii once. When we got there we had to jump from rock to slippery rock. It was treacherous. I don't think I would want to do something like that again. BUT -- I will contact him and see what he says, as I don't have a clue as to what to expect. Will get back to you.

Hey hey Joko:

The tour we took with Ken Hinterlands was a very EASY WALK. The guides are great. I found a whole slew of folks who are cruising with us on another site. They are looking for people to join them on private excursions. If you like you can send me a private e-mail @ sapphiremoon9@sbcglobal.net & I will give you more information.
