Sun Princess Dissapointment

Hi all,
My wife and I just returned from a southbound 7 day Alaska cruise. We had a wonderful time but we were very disapointed in Princess. The service and food were both fair at best. We ate in the dining room 6 nights and every night except for one they managed to mess up our order. The one night it was really bad. It took them 4 times, yes 4 times to get it correct! They were very pushy with selling wine during diner which really spoiled things. Later we found out that they are rewarded directly on how many bottles of wine they sell per evening. We had bought the sticker for 22.50 for soda, but found it nearly impossable to get someone to get you one. A lot of people had problems with luggage when we disembarked. We, along with many others had to wait almost two hours after we got off the ship to get our luggage. There were many other problems we encountered and I hate to bash them if this isn't their normal service. On a good note, the ship was in great shape, nearly spotless.

Have any of you experianced this on the Sun Princess? We had spoke to a few other passengers while we were in the airport and most of them were vetern cruisers, most commented that it was the worst cruise they ever took. Was anyone else out here on that cruise? Is this typical on a cruise or are our standards to high?

We sailed on the Coral in May doing the northbound Alaska cruise. I hate to say it, but our experience was much the same. It was our fourth Princess cruise, but unfortunately, it may be our last for a while. We had much, much better service on Royal Carribean and may be testing them again this year.

Thanks for your input Maybe the problem has something to due with the Alaska itinerary/route. I sure hope things improve before February.

Coming off the Coral Princess in March and meeting and mingling with some of the crew at a few of the ports it was quite evident from some of the conversations that because of the LARGE Influx of NEW Grand Class Ships (Caribbean, Diamond, and Sapphire) that MANY of the crews were shifting around which might have some premise for your displeasure. Its NOT excusable in ANY way but perhaps its an answer. =shrug Also there is regularly a LARGE turnover of crew between seasons (aka winter to summer or vise versa) as this is the time when MANY of the crew start their Break or come back from their Break depeneding on their schedules. Hopefully this is some of the reasoning behind your displeasure and Hopefully your NEXT cruise will be MUCH more to your satisfaction. :thumb
