Sun VS Golden

My husband and I want to go on a cruise to Alaska in September on the Golden Princess or Sun Princess. I am finding a rate of 1049.00 per person for the lowest grade balcony right now on cruise.com for Princess and 1004 for the Sun. Is this a good price? We are very flexible with dates we just want to port out of Seattle. I am not sure if we should wait and see if the rates come down since our dates are flexible or if this is as cheap as its going to get. Also which ship would be better? We would prefer something more romantic than tons of people. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Both ships are very nice, but If you want a smaller ship, then you should enjoy the Sun!

I made the trip on the Sun in 2000 - on the Diamond (which is similar to the Golden) last year. Loved them both because the trip was to Alaska, but liked the Diamond better because it was newer and seemed to have a better layout for what our travel group was looking for. Also, the one thing I didn't like about the Sun in a balcony stateroom was that the bathroom was microscopic. I can deal with small, but this was smaller than that.

We just booked the Golden today for the September 8th sailing - we went with Cat BA on the Caribe Deck because the balconies are almost twice as big (half of it is covered, half of it is not) which gives you a choice about being in the sun or the shade. Were lucky to find two next to each other (there are four of us going) and can hardly wait. It cost a little more than the other balconies - but we thought the prices for all the options at this point were too good to pass up.

Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide.

Have been on both of these ships, and my choice would be the Sun. Love the Golden but I prefer smaller ships whenever possible. I love the layout of the Sun and the overall atmosphere.

Either would be great as Alaska is fantastic.
