Superbowl Sunday question

If you can answer this, you are my hero!
Superbowl Sunday will fall on the 2nd day of our 7 night cruise on the Glory which departs on February 3rd.
This coincides with the first formal night. Game time is 6:30
On the Glory, the Captains cocktail party takes place in all of the
aft cocktail lounges, so it shouldn't be too much of an interference
with the game since the lounges will probably have televisions.

My question: Has anyone ever sailed under these same circumstances and has the first formal night ever been moved to accomodate the game?
I called Carnival and was told that the cruise director has the power to make such a change, but they have no advance information about such a change.

Would be in terrible taste to wear a suit with a football jersey instead of a shirt and tie on that night!!??!!?? LOL.

The game will be seen in the SPorts bar. There are no tvs in the lounges so if you go to the captains party you miss the sports bar.
It will be crowded so I would go early to get a seat.

Its up to the captain to change formal nights. It would make sense to have the formal night the next day which is a sea day instead.

If the same is on formal night-- you could wear your jersey to the captains party-- but please dont wear it to dinner.

I would suggest that if you are planning on watching the game in the sports bar that you get there very, very early! It's not a big area. I don't remember what big sporting event was on when we were on one of our cruises, but my husband and friend went to watch it in the sports bar and got there fairly early. There was no room whatsoever in there for them to even catch a glimpse of the event so I would say this being the Super Bowl that you get there early. You know, there are 2 formal evenings. Maybe you could skip the first one and go to the 2nd one? We used to go to both formal dinners but have cut one out on our last couple cruises so we don't have to get dressed up twice. Once is enough for us and we enjoy having dinner at the buffet for one night. Just a suggestion...don't know if your wife will mind that. I know my hubby would hate to miss that game. Good luck!

My wife and I have been taking a cruise the last 5 years on Super Sunday. Each ship we have been on has always set up extra seats and tv's for fans to watch the game. In addition, they set up hor'dourves for snacks during the game. If your lucky enough to sail on a ship with a big screen outside on the Lido deck, it's even better. This year we will be sailing on the Carnival Liberty! Last year we sailed on the Carribean Princess. They had the Superbowl on the big screen on the Lido deck (MUTS). The did have a glitch, in that when it first came on, it was broadcast in Spanish! All of the Pittsburgh fans went nuts!! LOL! They finally got it straight, and all went well. Previously, we have sailed on the Carnival Triumph several times, as well as the Carnival Fantasy. Each time we had no problem finding a seat in one of the lounges to watch the game.
The Triumph actually postponed the formal night to Monday each time we sailed it.
The best part is my better half loves football as much as I do, so it's not a problem not dressing up if they don't postpone it!

Thank you for all of your replies.
Rolex, we may be on the same cruise, Feb. 3rd on the Glory.
Doliveri I can only hope that what you're describing takes place on our ship. Luckily, my beautiful wife also loves football and she says that she's game for anything.
Whatever happens I know that we'll have a great time.

Thanks again for all of your input!

Mike
