My wife’s 50th B-day is 11/2/09 and I have planed a surprise cruise for her on the Valor sailing 11/1/09, she loves to cruise and has been on a few different ships. We have cruised the Eastern Caribbean together a few years ago with our kids in tow this trip is just for us.:couple I would appreciate hearing any suggestions that you all have regarding the ship (The Valor) or the Western Caribbean. Since it will be her B-day on the second day into the cruise and the itinerary has us at sea all day I have scheduled a spa treatment for her and dinner at the Steakhouse for that night. I was hoping that I could get some suggestions making her B-day special on the ship. Also any suggestions on excursions would be appreciated I am considering @ Costa Maya the Wave Runner & Beach Break excursion on Belize the X-Stream Cave Tubing, Cozumel, (we have been there a few times) going on our own to Playa del Carman and on the Grand Cayman the String Ray trip.

Please any suggestions would be a big help, thanks so much.:

Sounds like you have chosen some great excursions already. This is my very favorite cruise itinerary so you picked a winner. Definitely do Stingray City in Grand Cayman and sample and pick up some Tortuga Rum cakes at the Tortuga Rum store across from the tender dock. We're big on snorkeling and that's what we do at all the islands.

=funsign on your cruise =sailor

rrjoy11...you rock! What a great gift.
I have been on this ship on a Western itenerary. My favorite stop of all cruises that I have been on (3 & signed up for the Dream in Jan.) Belize was my most favorite.
We did the 4WD (landrovers) thru palm forest with cave tour. In Belize we had to tender in. Will definately go back there.
We have done the stingray island excursion...a little freaky but a great time. 7 mile beach is a short cab ride from the tender dock, in G.Caymen you also have to tender in....definately do a water event on this island.
The Valor is a very nice ship....huge! If Savio still works the casino bar...tell him that a fellow cruiser sends greetings! He was the best!!

Oh man, I wish my other half would do something like that for my birthday! I have no more suggestions to make it special, it sounds very special as is. I hope you both have a wonderful time!

Happy Birthday

I'd say it sounds like you have this all pretty much nailed down. I've been on similar itineraries several times and really enjoyed them.

One thing you might want to consider (which is really just a personal preference for us) is the Steakhouse plan for Day 2. Again, this is all just personal preference, but when we go to the restaurant, we try to avoid the formal nights, because they seem to step up the food in the main dining room and we like to see everyone dressed up. And on top of that, it's fun to have "your waiters" do their "Happy Birthday" thing. Of course, I'm guessing that Day 2 is a formal night based on the ship's itinerary and I could very well be wrong.

Again, this is just our preference. You may prefer a quieter environment for her B'Day dinner. Either way, I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Enjoy.
