Hello!

My friends and I will be taking our first cruise, ever! We are kind of nervous and are starting to look into excursions. We are sold on a few... but we are wondering if swimming with the dolphins is worth the amount of money it actually costs... has anyone done this? Please let me know! We are also thinking of horseback riding through Puerto Rico as well as going to Meagen's Beach....

Thanks!

Well Nicole, there are two ways of figuring this out. Do you like dolphins and would swimming with them be fun and exciting?? Or does the money mean more to you? Personally there isn't any question. I love dolphins and swimming with them was some of the highlights of my life. My husband just did it with me the first time and then he couldn't wait to do it the second. It's a no brainier in our house. Although we went horseback riding on shore and in the ocean in Jamaica, and I've owned horses, but it was again some of the highlights of our cruise and our life. The native people you meet, the native music and to think, "I'm on _ __ __ __ island and I'm having soooo much fun doing__ __ ___, " priceless...
We get an interior stateroom and spend the money on Shore Excursions...That the name of the game...Days at sea are great we love those too, but how often are you going to go to wherever and be able to do these things. It really is a choice you and your friend need to consider. I VOTE YES, YES, YES!!!! We are going to Hawaii in the fall and have a lot of sea days (Yeah) and 5 days in ports (Yeah). After this first cruise you'll know what you really want out of cruising. Besides this is what cruising vacation is all about. Do what you want and enjoy, just take some time to relax along the way.

We did it a few years back. Glad we did it once.

The bottom line is that 3 years later, your bank account won't look a bit different based upon the Dolphin event, but you will have done it.

I swam with the Dolphins on my first cruise in 2003. I absolutely LOVED the cruise and the Dolphin Swim was my favorite part. So needles to say I think that it's totally worth the money! Plus you can purchase a video or pictures of your experience afterwards---also totally worth the money! Megan's bay is very beautiful, but last time I was there on an excursion it was EXTREMELY crowded. never done the horseback thing so I can't comment on that.

Have a great time on your cruise--you're gonna have a ball!!!!
