Hi

I understand that while you can't guarantee a table for 2, you can request it, and that's what I have done. My question is how likly will I get it. Please share your experiences.

Also I know that if I don't get it, once on board I can get it changed with the headwaiter, again what's the chances of me getting the table.

On the afternoon of embarkation, the MaitreD will be available in one of the lounges to help you with changes in dining assignments [if you don't have such a table already]. The exact time/place will be in your Capers. There aren't many "tables for two". As such, I'd get there early for the opportunity to request one.

Before requesting the table for two-- go to the dining room and check out where they are located.

We did this on the Liberty coz I wanted to see the set up.
the talbles are set between 2 other tables.. 6 on one side and 8 on the other, waiters will be rushing both sides to take care of those tables. Aother thing we noticed were tables for two by the kitchen area where waiters and coming in and out.
So if looking for a romantic-quiet table for two--- it might not be what you are looking for.

Ok-- to answer your question-- depends on how many people are requesting tables for 2 and how early your request is for it. The earlier you go the better your chances.

ok....thanx for the replys...

Serene, I'll be going on the Valor so I guess it'll pretty much be like your liberty. Do you remember how many of these small tables there are in total? My girl and I still rather have a table for ourselves.

I believe it's about 8-10. If your seating is not crowded, the MaitreD might let you dine by yourself at a table/booth meant for 4.

We just returned from the Legend. We went to the Miatre-D the first afternoon and he changed it for us. I had requested it from our personal planner but it did not get turned in apparently. Ther were quite a few table's for 2 on the legend and a lot of them were empty. They were all around the dinning room so it would not be a problem getting a nice table i'm sure. Viet

that's good to know. btw did you tip the MaitreD right after he/she got you the table? or at the end of the cruise? and how much would be appropriate

We tipped the Maiter'D the last night of the cruise. They left an envelope in the cabin with all the other info.Everything else was on the sign and sail card.you can give extra to who ever you want and they get to keep it. I know some cruise lines expect them to put it in a pool.We had a very nice cruise. Viet

DH and I went in Oct. 2004 for our Honeymoon, and since we're both fairly antisocial (in a friendly way, if that makes sense!), we weren't looking forward to sitting in a group table, but we didn't make any special requests.

As it turned out, we were seated at a table for 4. Luckily, our tablemates only came once for dinner-- they said they weren't into dressing up or fancy food, and thus preferred the buffet.

But you know what? Even though they were nice, it was TORTURE to have to be seated with just ONE other couple. None of us had anything in common, there were all sorts of uncomfortable silences, and it was just plain ICKY. If we had it to do over again, we would absolutely prefer a large group table over a small group one-- unless, of course, we had a table for 2. (Luckily, our booth for 4 was pretty much a table for 2 for the whole cruise except that one night.)

We went on the Celebration last August and just went
to the dining room and requested a table for two with
no problem.
