Table for...one?

I have a question for anyone who has dined in the alternate restaurants:

I am traveling alone but had planned on trying the charge restaurants on the Sky when I had a traveling companion. Now that I am going alone, I hate to miss out on some new cuisine. Has anyone noticed that these restaurants discourage lone diners? Le Bistro looks so romantic but maybe Horizons or Ciao Chow? I don't mind sitting alone when I eat out, I usually read brochures or write in my journal, but would it be too awkward in anyone's opinion?

Thanks

Not at all...I certainly wouldn't miss out on some great dining experiences just because you're alone! :) You should definitely enjoy everything the ship has to offer.

I travel solo often and do not let that stop me from enjoying the alternative restaurants. In fact, I prefer them over the main dining rooms on NCL. Le Bistro is wonderful. Just back from the Sun and enjoyed Le Bistro twice, the sushi bar once and Il Adagio once. Would recommend them all.

Thanks for the encouragement. I thought perhaps if I went at the start of the open hours, I wouldn't be taking up a table since it might not be busy. Or is that the busy time?

there are plenty of smaller tables. I like to dine at 7:30 or so which is a popular time for the alternative restaurants so just make your reservations early. Enjoy!

Sometimes the main restaurants get full just as they open up and thin out later (hard to break the habit of traditional first seating for some folks).....as far as the specialty restaurants are concerned, you should just make your reservation when you wish to dine, and not worry about anything....this is your vacation and you should enjoy it to it's fullest!

I did want lobster and I think that's only served in the Main dining rooms? On Dress-up night 1? When you go to the Main rooms, are you seated by someone or do you wander about, finding your own table? I don't want to wander and hate asking, is anyone sitting here? lol If, as some people have posted, night life dwindles after 9pm, I figured I could eat early in an alternate restaurant, and then wander around the ship, checking out some of the various bars, trying new drinks, and trying my luck in the casino. :)

Lobster is served on the optional formal night, but on the Dawn they only observe the formal night in one of the 3 main restaurants. So if you don't care to dress up dine in one of the other two. When you enter the dining rooms someone at the podium will greet and seat you according to your table preference..........so if you want to dine alone or with others at a large table just let them know.......
