Take the stairs?

The stairs between decks seem like an interesting alternative to taking the elevator, especially when walking down. Since our new cabin assignment on the Glory is much nearer a set of stairs than it is to an elevator until I find out better that seems like the route of choice. I assume the cabins are not that large from floor to ceiling so each flight of stairs shouldn't be that many stairs. Do the stairways get less use than the elevators? How wide are they and are all stairways equally wide? Do all stairways run between all decks or only some stairways? Which decks run the full length of the ship?

There are stairs on every deck and several sets on each deck. We never use the elevator. It is much quicker getting where you need to go by using the stairs. The elevators take a long time and always stop at every deck usually and are always crowded. You also have kids that, unfortunately, like to take the elevator and press ever floor even when it's not busy. The stairways are very wide and do accomodate a lot of people. We also use the stairs for some exercise. You eat so much on a cruise that every little bit of extra exercise helps! If the stairs are right near your cabin I'd say take them. I believe that most public stairways do go all the way through the ship.

Don't take the stairs. It is okay to walk on them, but if you take them you'll probably get arrested.

The distance between floors is like any other building. About ten feet.

The stair are quite wide. But leave them were you found them!

The stairs are located in the same place as the elevators. I dont understand when you say the stairs seem much closer then the elevators.

Some ships are easy to get around..some you have to go to one deck to get to another. Always remember that no matter what ship the most easy to navigate deck is the promanade deck- it goes all the way through.

Serene,
Looking at the Glory deck plan, the Empress Deck in the rear of the ship it seems to indicate rear stairwells(one on each side of the ship) with no elevators in sight. I assume these are for the cruisers and they lead to other decks.
