I've been to Palancar beach twice. Its my favorite place (so far) on Cozumel. Once I hit it on a day when the ocean was as calm as glass. Went snorkeling out to Palancar Reef (highly recommended). water was incredibly clear. The other time it was very windy and the ocean was very rough and I couldn't snorkel there at all. Had to go to Chankanaab instead. The beach is normally very nice and there is a nice pavillion where you can order food or drinks.Palancar isa ten or 15 minute drive south from the port. I always like to rent an inexpensive car from alamo (at the port) to get there. I think it costs about $50 or so depending on the model you rent. Then you can also stop at other places. But I suppose a taxi ride down and back couldn't be too expensive.Hope this helps!
