Very easy to get a taxi to Orient Beach. As another poster explained there are lots of them at the visitors centre right at the pier. If you use one of the mini-vans with a bunch of other people (easy to do - lots of people going to Orient Beach) - it will only cost you $5 each. When you want to return there are plenty of cabs waiting at Orient Beach. We liked Kakao Beach Club/restaurant as a place to park ourselves on the beach. Nice loungers available for rent, clean washrooms and an outdoor shower to get some of the salt off. We just had a drink at the restaurant but the menu looked nice. There are lots of places renting loungers etc - so you can find one you like. Because the beach is fairly long, we never felt overcrowded.
