We will be in Aruba, Curacao, St. Martin and St. Thomas on AOC (10/19). We are first time cruisers but from what I've seen on boards, taxis seem better for general sightseeing as far as price, convenience and budgeting time. What do you guys think? Also, suggestions fro beaches on these islands, we are interested more in swimming/scenery more than snorkeling.-Terry

In St. Thomas go to Megan's Bay first thing in the morning and walk to the left down the beach, here it would be less crowded. The taxi fare is about $8.00 per person and another small fee to get on the beach. Ask the driver to come back to pick you up and bargin for a sightseeing trip back to the ship. Ask him to stop at the mountain pull off to take pictures of Megan's Bay and also the stopoff to see the harbour were your ship is docked.

In St. Martin we went to Orient Beach which is clothing optional. The taxi fare was $7.00 per person sharing a mini van with others. We rented beach chairs for $20.00 and they have beach service for food and drinks. This beach is beautiful and was not crowded.
