Alaska is a wonderful place to self drive and stay in B&Bs. I think that two weeks will give you sufficient time to see Alaska's interior prior to going on a one week cruise. You'll want to start your trip in Anchorage, as the rental cars are less expensive and you can drop you car in the same location as you picked it up before obtaining transportation to Seward or Whittier to embark on your cruise.As you are coming in July, you'll want to make those B&B reservations as soon as possible.
