Hi Britain: You are going to love your holiday adventure. It might do you good to check out cruisecritic and cruisemates b/c people comment alot on the different tours. As well, check out the websites for the various ports that you might be stopping at for information about these ports, as well as, independent tour operators. Certainly do not restrict your self to ship tours - they are sometimes more expensive. In the Skagway port - you can rent a car and drive to the Yukon. Many people have done that and have enjoyed themselves b/c it is flexible and you can make your own time schedule. Some of the things that are bonus is the change of scenery - coastal, barren and boreal forest - beautiful lakes along the way, scenic town of Carcross, the littlest desert, and the famous blue green Emerald Lake. The horseback tour I went on was excellent and we got the most beautiful view of Emerald Lake with snow capped mountains of Carcross in the background. The horseback tour is at a country ranch just past Emerald Lake on the way to Whitehorse. You can check out this tour www.southeasttours.com They also have other tours.
