I have read a little bit about The BoatYard in Barbados. Can someone tell me more about it? Do we take a taxi? About how far is it? Would this be a good way to spend a couple of hours while there?

Thanks!

NOT very far from the port. It is walkable if U enjoy walking but a taxi is the prefereable method. The place is OK but IMO there are FAR better beaches on Barbados than this one. Its right by the Old shipping yard and the sights are NOT the MOST breathtaking. They do have a LOT of activities going on there though. Enjoy!!! :thumb

it's been awhile since I've been. I recall really needing a taxi... less than 10 minutes, but the walk WAY too long. it's a beach bar... with a varied menu which was good, use of chairs and umbrella, volleyball, very large beach access, no pool, acceptable restrooms (term used loosely as this is the caribbean). there is volleyball, non motorized water sports and jet skis which you can haggle $$ with. No snorkeling. This turns into a party bar at night, the whole techo bit... but it was a blast, taxis very easy to get to return.

it was not grand caymen 7 mile beach... it was not coki in st. thomas... but we loved it because we're beach people, it had facilities, a bar, restrooms, food and taxi service.. we rented jet skis too and partied there at night, your day wrist band give you free night enterance... if you're there long enough... we were on destiny.

if you want a few pics, e-mail me and I'll be happy to send them to you... the water is not pristine crystal clear.... there are many other places for snorkeling and swimming with the turtles... but for the beach bum, it's great in itself.
