WE have 2 cruises on X booked for 2005, our first time on X. I have read about champagne at boarding and also the chilled towels upon your return to the ship while in port( I have also seen the chilled towels). Aside from food and service, what other nice touches does Celebrity have for guests in standard(not CC) Staterooms.

Hi,

One of the nicer touches is the sorbet parade. At a set time of day a number of waiters descend on the pool area with individual servings of sorbet for all the sun bathers and swimmers. Home made ice cream available in the casual dining room. A very good free sushi bar thats open every evening. Free pastries in the Cova bar. And the recent alliance with Cirque du Soliele promises some interesting entertainment enjoyment. With the expanding guest celebrity program, it looks like Celebrity is going all out present a high quality experience for all of their passengers. We are impressed by their efforts, enough to also have two cruises booked, and I'm sure you will be too.

We were on the Century 4/17/2004. I looked for it, but missed the chilled towels at the pool or on return from ports. A couple of touches that we thought were nice, complimentary use of bathrobes in the cabin; complimentary Celebrity beach bag to KEEP; fresh ice water pitcher in the cabin; full room service breakfast at no charge; white gloved waiters standing at the end of the buffet lines to carry your tray to your table; fresh linen on the trays at the buffets; waiters curculating pouring coffee at the buffet breakfasts. None of the above are huge, but they spoil you. we definitely noticed a difference from the service on Princess. If you are breakfast people the waffle bar is not to be missed & the croissants at the Cova are fantastic.

Ditto the previous replies. Also, stacks of pool towels beside the pool; padded lounge chairs; lemonade and cold drinks delivered pool side by a helpful, friendly staff. On Alaskan cruises, you are greeted back on board after port days with hot chocolate (if the day is chilly); wool lap robes by the pool to cover yourself if you want sit outside on deck. Also the Elegant Tea is lovely. It is much like HAL's Dutch Tea, but they ask guests to "dress up" for this experience. If you are a night owl, the weekly Midnight Buffet is lavish. On the Summit, the Normandie speciality restaurant is worth the extra charge for a special evening for two.

On your first X cruise, become a Captain's Club member. You can pick up the membership form at Guest Relations, complete it and return it to the Captain's Club/Future Cruise Sales Manager. Membership also provides some perks. If you want to book future cruises on board, see the Captain's Club/Future Cruise Sales Manager for prices. We've done this three times to get shipboard credits, which are great and can be applied to almost everything on board.

Captain's Club members also receive the X newsletter during the year that has Captain's Club discount coupons on specific cruises. We saved $510 Canadian on our Summit cruise with a combination of the a discount coupon, free dinner in the Normandie and US$200 shipboard credits.

We love X and are going back to HAL for another cruise in November because friends want to try HAL. I am already checking X for a cruise or two next year.

I agree!! The little extras make a world of difference. The free champagne and being escorted to your cabin by a white-gloved attendant was a fabulous first impression.

On our Alaska cruise, chilled towels were not necessary. Pleanty of blankets on deck were nice but the best was when re-boarding the ship at the ports of call...just past security were the dining staff with vats of free hot chocolate to warm you up! Also the wait staff circulating on deck at Hubbard Glacier with hot chocolate for sale in stainless Celebrity travel mugs which you keep. Others with hot chocolate and a jolt of brandy, grand marnier, kalua, peppermint schnapps etc to keep you warm.

Happy c-c-c-ruising,

Michael

Forgot to mention that Celebrity provides ice cold lemonade at the dock when you have to wait for the tender back to the ship. I think they go the extra mile in many ways, thoughful of the passengers comfort.

It might not be a big deal to some people, but they use real hand towels in the public rest rooms. All this and the above add up to a great cruise line. You can always find something that you don't like, but overall Celebrity is my favorite.

The line has also strengthened its "enrichment program", which involves learning experiences on board. I will be part of a special program next January 16-23, 2005 on the Millennium. See newportstyecruising.com for more info. I would be happy to answer any wine questions.

Many xtras that has made celebrity our new cruise of choice. Loved the compound butters and fresh fruit with waffles at breakfast buffet. They also help you with your trays- just loved everything about it- going again this Feb
