I'm traveling on the Carnival Paradise on August 24th with stops at Belize, Cozumel, Isla Roatan, and Grand Cayman. Can anybody share with me their favorite experience at any/all of these ports of call?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

(Do you think I'm planning way too far ahead? Can you tell I'm excited about my first cruise?)

Thanks!

I went on the Rhapsody of the seas and stopped in Cozumel and Belize in February of this year. Cozumel is great for snorkeling, beaching, shopping and barhopping. ( My favorite was snorkeling.) Belize is more of an eco-tourism place as almost half of the country is a national park. I recommend doing something on or near the water as it was quite hot and humid in Feb., so I imagine it will be even warmer in August. The snorkeling, cave tubing and kayaking are good bets. (We did kayaking on the Belize River, but I think next time I'll try snorkelying at Shark Ray Alley as we heard lots of raves about it.)

Hope you have a lovely first cruise, and I bet you'll be back for more after your first taste of the cruising lifestyle.

We've been considering the Paradise for a cruise around Sept. We went on the Pride last year, Belize is wonderful!!!! I did the shark ray alley tour and can't say enough good things about it! my wife went river tubbing and had a lot of fun doing that.

As far as Cayman goes the snorkeling is fantastic there!

Have fun!

My son & friend (then 17 & 18) did the cave tubing trip & loved it! It was VERY hot & humid in Belize in June, August will probably be more so. Take plenty of sunscreen, water & a hat with you regardless of which excursion you take. From a true cruise-a-holic, I wish you to return from your first cruise with the same addiction!

Grand Caymen is wonderful. Very clean and beautiful. By far, my favorite port on our last cruise (Ochos Rios, Georgetown, Cozumel). I recommend going to 7 mile beach. Just take a cab there, it was very inexpensive and very easy to get cabs to and from there. I think we went to a place across from the Hilton and we didn't have to pay to use the beach. Went snorkeling with our own equipment. I loved it.

We were on the Pride last Easter and took the snorkeling excursion. It was wonderful they took us to this little tiny island, reminded me of Gilligans Island, where we picked up snorkeling equipment. There were an incredible amount of beautiful fish, and the ocean was nice and warm. The only part I didn't like was getting off the ship and onto the little boat to take you to the island. The little boat is bopping around and here you are trying to climb on. Hope you don't get the rock & roll like we did.

We were in Belize in January. Took the adventure tour which consisted of a trip to the Zoo, lunch and a river tour back to the Ship. The zoo was OK . The river tour was great. Saw alligators, monkeys, dolphins, iguana's. Very scenic. Worth the money

We were in Belize June 2002, did the Mayan ruins in Lamanai with the river cruise..Fantastic. Extremely hot and humid..The ruins were wonderful to see, the tour took 7 hours. One hr. bus ride to the river, then an hour and half in speed boats up the New River..then lunch prepared by the Mayan women(superb food) lots of icy cold water and sodas in glass bottles. Well worth the money for this tour. Easy walking in the jungle with howler monkeys in the tree canopy. Someday we shall learn to dive and snorkel! Maybe my next life.. Have fun planning, its half the adventure!!

I think by far the most popular excursion in Georgetown, Grand Cayman is the Stingray City--sandbar--excursion. There are many, many reputable operators that supply the same experience for much less than the ships tour.

Another very popular excursion is the Hell, Turtle Farm, 7 mile Beach, and the Rum Factory Island tour. Again wait until you reach shore as the Grand Island tour is only $ 15.00 per person verses the $40 or $ 45.00 charged on board.

We did the Atlantis Submarine tour which was awesome. This is also available in Cozumel.

There is also duty free shopping in Georgetown, though except for liquor, prices seemed higher that the rest of the Caribbean.

In Belize the river tubing, and the riverboat excursion seem to be very popular.

Cozumel is so diverse in it's offering from an exotic mini-golf course to a beautiful National Park to swimming with the dolphins, to bargain shopping to visiting ruins, and eco-parks.
