MSC Splendida will be the queen of the Mediterranean Sea all summer long and through autumn.

Immediately after its inaugural ceremony, MSC Cruises' new flagship will depart from Barcelona for its six-day maiden voyage, calling at the most beautiful ports in the Mediterranean: Tunis, Valletta (Malta), Messina and Civitavecchia, arriving in Genoa on Saturday 18 July.

The chief city of the Liguria Region is in fact the home port of MSC Splendida, from which this new jewel of the sea will depart every Saturday - from 18 July until 7 November - on a striking eight-day itinerary through the most enchanting ports in western Mediterranean.

After leaving "La Superba", the ship will head towards Marseilles, an ideal point of departure for discovering the nature and traditions of Provence. The following stops will be in cosmopolitan Barcelona with the lively Ramblas and Sagrada Familia, and Tunis for a dive into the colours and scents of the Arab medina. The ship will then call at Malta to admire the splendid views and artistic riches of its capital, Valletta. The last stops will be Messina, just a few steps away from the lively Taormina, and then Civitavecchia for a tour of ancient Rome.

On board MSC Splendida, the magic of the Mediterranean Sea continues underneath the autumn sun, with two 11- and 12-day itineraries through the wonders of Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Crete.

The ship will leave from Genoa on 17 November. After a day of sailing, MSC Splendida will stop in Katakolon, where we will visit the perfectly preserved archaeological site of Olympia. The next stops will be Piraeus, for an unforgettable excursion to the Parthenon of Athens, and the island of Rhodes, the "pearl" of Dodecanese. The ship will then call at Alexandria of Egypt, where you can visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo or the three famous pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus, and Iraklion on the island of Crete with the beautiful palace of Minos. Before returning to Genoa on 27 November, the last stops will be in sunny Messina and Naples.

27 November and 8 December will be the departure dates for a second 12-day itinerary, the same as the previous itinerary with an extra stop in Marmaris on the splendid coast of Anatolia.
