An important construction stage has been reached for MSC Poesia, the third ship in the Musica class, due to join the fleet in April 2008. After the Coin Ceremony that took place on 6 December 2006 at the Aker Yards in St. Nazaire, France, MSC Poesia is again in the limelight. Three significant stages in her construction process are now complete: the assembly of the upper deck, positioning of the funnel and the radar mast.

The blue funnel with the white logo emblem, which identifies MSC Cruises ships, weighs 65 tonnes, is 60 metres long and 11 metres tall. Built with the same innovative technology as used on MSC Orchestra, the funnel will have a perfectly smooth exterior. The radar mast, taking three months to complete, will house all the antennas and the electrical circuits needed to navigate the ship. It weighs seven tonnes, is four metres long and 9.3 metres wide and is entirely built from aluminium alloy.

MSC Poesia is the sister ship to MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra. She will have the same innovative style and architecture: 80% of the cabins are ocean-view accommodations, including 65% with private balconies.

An excellent yet functional relationship will be available in the 22,000 square metres of public areas. In particular, the Secondary Lounge on board MSC Poesia is all glass so that passengers will be able to enjoy amazing views of the sea by day and night while cruising and on the approach to ports of call.

The funnel, the upper deck and the radar mast complete another stage in the construction of MSC Poesia and her definitive form. She is now ready to have the propeller and rudder fitted to get ready for her floating-out ceremony.

The construction of MSC Poesia reaffirms the ongoing solid relationship between MSC Cruises and Aker Yards France (formerly Chantiers de l'Atlantique).

Following MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra, Akers Yard France is currently building MSC Poesia and MSC Fantasia.

MSC Fantasia will become part of the fleet in the autumn of 2008 and will be joined by her twin, MSC Splendida, in 2009. These two ships will be the largest to be commissioned by a European shipowner. On 30 March 2007 MSC Cruises also confirmed the construction of MSC Magnifica, the fourth ship in the Musica class and twelfth ship in the fleet.

MSC Poesia will join the fleet in April 2008 as the ninth addition to the MSC Cruises fleet.
