I am booking a summer cruise this weekend,8 day eastern I did last year I had the time of my life on it...Loved everything I did on the ship and ports,I think about it everyday....Or go on a western,I have some doubts about western even though I have never been there.Iam looking for unbelievable clear water and unforgettable beaches..Will I find this on the western..I have done all the research on western and cannot find anything that is swaying me towards western...Any help would be greatly used..........I loved trunk bay and think about it everyday,I want to find something comparable to that...I know alot of cruisers on here swear by western?????? So help me out, what is there to do,What beaches should I research...and lastly I cant wait to CRUISE somewhere.............So help me out..Grand Cayman,Cozumel,Belize, and Isla Roatan.....Or San juan,St. Thomas,Antigue,Tortola,Nassua............WOW what a problem.....hahahahahaha..THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP..I have no idea about western ports....

Split the difference. Go to Alaska! Love those glaciers. We've done the Western Caribbean, and have a cruise booked for Eastern. I'll have to tell you about the time we were left in Roatan...someday.

Really tough.

Grand Cayman has Seven Mile beach. Busier than Trunk Bay but it is truly, truly gorgeous.

Cozumel has several wonderful beaches and some very good snorkeling.

Several Carnival itineraries call at Half Moon Cay. You'll love its beaches.

San Juan actually does have some beaches but the water tends to be rougher than elsewhere. I love this port for walking around, absorbing some history and culture, people watching and, of course, the vistas from the forts. Don't miss the sail in it's one of the more interesting and photogenic.

I tend to prefer Eastern Caribbean myself but you really can't go wrong with either.

If you take me serious, it's your problem
Mx315,

If you've already done the eastern 8-day itinerary, why not give the western a shot. I'm assuming that it is the same cruise line, and that the service and things you enjoyed about the shipwill be the same. so the real question is why the western itinerary??

well if the ship is the Carnival Freedom and the itinerary is this:
Ft Lauderdale, FL, Cozumel, Mexico, Limon, Costa Rica,Colon Panama, Ft Lauderdale, FL..... then i'd say you'll have an equally enjoyable time.

Aside from there being new ports of call, there are some nice beaches on this itinerary has some really nice excursions too.
Coz is great for shopping and beaches, plus a tequilla factory tour.

Limon has some nice rain forrest excursions, some shopping, and some beaches(i've never been to them, but i hear they have some beautiful public beaches south of the port).

Colon Panama... what else can you say but "canal" .... there are excursions to the miraflores locks, a tour of the locks, and you can watch ships as they travel through these amazing canals. There are some good restaurants in Colon for great central american foods. shopping is pretty good.. not much beaches though... except if you go to gatun lake.. there are a few public beaches there which are pretty nice(although getting there can be tricky, and getting back to port on time is even trickier).

Anyways... either way you decide... you pick a winner. Both are great itineraries. Plus they are 8 day cruises which means an extra sea day !!!!

Western Caribbean is my favorite. Look at the Valor out of Miami or Legend out of Tampa. Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. It doesn't get any better than that. :beach:

Some of the most crystal clear water I have ever seen.

I am doing the Eastern for the first time this December and can't wait. Your post has made me even more excited!

I've never done the Western and probably never will because my husband has something against Mexico. However, we did the Southern and it was amazing. Antigua and Barbados both have beautiful beaches and clear water!! St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands I've ever seen. So I would strongly suggest you try a Southern!

No matter what you choose I'm sure you will have a great time!

I've been to both Easter and Western several times. I love both! I'm doing Western this time around, because the last time we did Eastern. I like taking turns. Don't cheat yourself.
