Just wanted to find out what was the norm. for tipping Camp Carnival counselors. I will have 3 kids, ages 3,4, and 7, in Camp Carnival abord the Glory in Oct. This will be my first cruise w/ the kids. I know to tip the roomstewart, dinning staff, etc. at the adult rate but don't recall seeing anthing about Camp Carnival, and they may have the hardest job! -lol.

I was just on the Spirit this past week and the cruise director did mention tipping the youth counselors but did not suggest any amounts. Maybe some others who have had kids in camp carnival can offer appropriate amounts, or check with a travel agent.

Thanks. Some ppl from the other boards have suggested $20 per child for a 7 day cruise.

Do you know if that would be per counselor, since in some occassions there is more than one assigned to the age group. Any suggestions would be great.

Also, If anyone knows how many formal nights the kids have and if there are any themed nights they should take clothes for.

Thank you,
RB

RB-

What I've been getting from dif ppl from dif boards is the $20 per child for a 7 day cruise should be fine. Someone explained it to me this way, let's say there's 100 kids and everyone tipped $20 per kid, that's $2000 divided by maybe 10 councelors that's still $200 each. They are considered a part of the crew or is it staff (which everone gets to use the ship's fac. on their days off), so they get also get paid from the cruiseline. Also, you can look at it this way, we don't tip the preformers at the shows. Don't get me wrong, I plan on tipping them cuz I definately think they deserve it!

We just returned from the Celebrity Horizon. Since most of the youth staff are from various countries, long distance phone cards are always a good gift. I plan on bringing some on our Legend cruise in Oct.

We've always tipped the Camp Carnival counselors, as they certainly do earn it. $20 per child for a 7 day is a good guide line. Use your discretion. They pool thier tips so you don't need to tip each counselor.

Rina, the children have just as many formal nights as the parents. Camp Carnival has a "formal" dinner for the kids so Mom and Dad can attend the cocktail parties and dine alone IF that is your wish.

Just returned from our third Carnival cruise without kids, and for the first time, they discussed tipping the Camp Carnival counselors in the debarkation talk. They made no $ recommendations, just said it would be a good idea. With that said, I would think it needs to be done, but based on whether the children were very happy with their counselor. Tip based on how well that counselor treated your child, starting with $20 per child as the base.

Thank you for the information. We're leaving on Paradise at the end of the month with the kids. What itinerary did you have? We're doing the Eastern and are having some difficulties on what to do at Casa de Campo, since it seems that there is limited things for children. We were thinking of taking a cab to Bayahibe beach. If you sailed the Eastern and have any tips on Casa de Campo that would be great.

Thanks
