tipping for private excursions

Can anyone tell me what to do as far as tipping--we plan on doing some private excursions (there are five of us all together). What would the norm be as far as, say, a private 4 hour excursion with Captain Marvin?

I usually tip about 15% to 20% of the excursion cost.

If I remember correctly the cost for Capitan Marvin was around $ 25.00 per person. A $ 4.00 or $ 5.00 tip would cover the boat attendant's, boat pilot, and the instructors who get in the water, and the photographer.

That all depends on the service.

We go to Rum point when hitting Grand Cayman and trust this, if 40 of us show up in the trams and have to wait a half hour for 2 locals to saunter over and board the ferry, there is no way the people running the boat get a tip.

I will not be forced into some sort of wealthy American trap where I am supposed to toss money about even to someone who treats me like dirt such as the tour we had in St. Maartin last September.
