Tipping on Zenith/Tours/Liquor

Hello-
We're taking a family vacation next week to Bermuda on the Zenith, and we're all wondering what the tipping policy is for the end of the trip...as far as form of payment. Is cash used, or can you/do you charge it to your account? Also, can anyone provide reviews/info on tours, specifically the "Don't Stop the Carnival Party", "Hartley's Reef Safari" and either of the Glass Bottom Boat tours? How about recommendations for tours for two five year olds and one seven year old (are the catamaran trips nice)? And finally, the question of bringing liquor on board...what's the deal? I've read the reviews, sounds like it's ok in moderation?

Thanks in advance-

I have found great reviews for this excursion, you can book it yourself..www.jessiejames.bm If you go to www.bermudaentertainment.com you can also book the carnival party on your own and it is $10.00 cheaper. You will be givien envelopes and tipping is done at the end of the cruise. Celebrity is very good about bringing on your own. We brought on some wine, beer and pepsi in our carryon and not a word was said. Enjoy your trip, we are going in September! JANZ

Janz-

Thanks for the info! Is tipping done in cash or can it be charged to your card? We're trying to figure out how much cash to bring along.

Thanks again-

Tipping is done in cash on Celebrity ships. $3.50 per day per person each for the waiter & cabin steward, $2 pppd for the assistant waiter - Children are half of the daily amount.
The Glass Bottom boat tour will be great for your children. Also, don't miss the local culture by taking the public Pink bus system all over the island for a very reasonable amount. I understand there may be a multi day pass available. Don't miss a walk up to the top of Gibbs Lighthouse. Bikes are easily rented in Bermuda and there were great trails along the old railroad bed. Having the children on a catamaran may be nice, but don't forget the strength of the sun. A trip to Horeshoe Bay is great. Bring kites from home. A self guided tour at St. George will show the kids a lot of British historical sites and re-inactments.
Bon Voyage

Thank you so much for all of this information...I've also been reading about taking local tours as opposed to ship-run tours. Are you familiar with any in particular (other than those you mentioned)? Can anyone out there help out with suggestions?

Thanks again to everyone out there for your vast wealth of information!!!

Another thing that I just found out. On Wed night the Zenith is docked in St.Georges. To get to the Hamilton street fair, take the number 11 bus as it runs later. About a 2 minute walk to the bus stop on both ends. JANZ

I've found that preparing our tip envelopes at home before the cruise eliminates the worry of having the right cash at the end of the cruise. I put the cash for each one in an envelope with a brief note of thanks or a thank you card, but don't seal the envelope in case I want to add a little more for special services. By the end of the cruise we know names and can write the names on the envelope.

Here is an awesome site to help figure out how much tip money to bring.
http://members.aol.com/CruiseTip/
It's very simple and has the suggested tip amounts already there per cruise line.
Make sure you pick the right amount of days for your cruise at the top.
The amounts are changeable in case you want to adjust in any way.
Enjoy!
