Hi cruisers,

Just to add a comment or two. On the Pride last May I packed 12 beers and some cokes and took a collapseable cooler. By tipping the steward 2 bucks every couple of  days I had a full cooler of ice every day and nice cold beers on deck. Well worth it to me.

Remember though if you write a note for your steward make it simple. The first day I wrote a nice long note thanking him ahead of time and left a couple of bucks for my ice but then the ice didn't come. It took me by surprise until my wife pointed out that he probably couldn't read English very well. When I went back on deck I just left a nice simple "Fill with Ice please" and that did the trick. So keep it simple.

My wife likes wine with dinner so we took a nice bottle or two on board. She also likes an extra glass of ice to put in the wine to chill it down some.We weren't charged a corking fee and after one dinner the wine showed up every night and the glass of ice. The waiter's assistant took very good care of her. I slid him an extra $20 during the week. If I get good service I tip well. The folks that work these cruise ships work very long hours for next to nothing to make sure we have a good time. I think we can afford to tip them. An American would never work those hours for what these folks get paid.

Sorry if I sounded like I was on a soapbox.
