Cash required. but you can use your credit card or cruise card in the casino to get that cash so you don;t have to bring a lot to start with.

Celebrity now offer to put the tips on to your pass card at the beginning of your cruise. They will then share out the tips to the appropriate people at the end of the cruise. This enables you to stop worrying whether you have enough money at the end of your cruise to distribute via the envelopes.

I just called Celebrity and they said they were only doing tips on the credit card for the Constellation and Millenium.

Well this is good news for us on Tips being direct billed at least initially on some ships. Our next voyage is scheduled for Millennium. I too thought I would not care for this relatively new option, but now I don't have to worry about getting cash in advance or waiting in line to cash travelers checks, etc. If a service team member's gratuity for service needs adjusting whether up or down, I have that option to adjust at the Pursor's desk. Only once in 12 cruise have I had to adjust the tip down due to very poor service and we had not been to the dining room every night on Millennium.

With dining alternatives, the poor wait staff are often deliberatly not tipped by more people than you can possibly imagine.

We have just sailed on the Summit in Alaska on Celebrity. I still perfer the old fashion way of dealing with Tips. Hubbie & I want to hand the tips to our Cabin Stewart, Waiter, Bus Boy and so on. This way they know we truly appricated the fine service that they did
give us.

Although I do prefer the auto-tipping on the charge card, it hasn't been available to us on any of our Celebrity sailings, and since Celeb is our preferred line, we bring the cash for it, or I do the casino withdrawal, which then is charged to my ship-board account.
