Forgot to mention in my last post...we have paid our tips upfront. Does anyone know how this works and do you think we will get worse service because of it?

I do not think that your room steward or wait staff will know that you paid ahead. Even if they did you will get great service. The get a record of how much you tipped at the end of the cruise. They receive the money at a later date. I am not sure how long it takes.

The crew get promoted by the number of positive remarks that passengers turn in at the end of the week. I have talked to many crew members, and their number ONE concern is that that DON?T receive any bad reports from passengers, and only GOOD ones. The number of rooms, and the number of tables assigned are related to good reports. Many have told me the tips for the different departments are pooled, so the tips tend to average out over week to weeks.

On our last cruise the waiter thanked the two couple who had pre-paid their tips, so I know they know, and the service they received at the dinner table was exactly the same everyone else at our table received EXCELLENT ~~!!~~

On Carnival you can prepay tips ahead of time or they will automatically add tips to your Sail and Sign card. If you are saying you have prepaid your tips before sailing make sure you check your bill to see that they don't add an additional automatic tip on your card. This happened to a friend of ours. They prepaid the tip when they booked and when they were checking their Sail & Sign bill they had the automatic tip also added in.

It is wise to check the Sail and Sign bill anyway.
