I took my husband, Tim, to the Emergency Room at 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning because he was having abdominal pain and fever since the previous day. It turned out to be appendicitis, so he had surgery Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately it couldn't be done laprascopically, so he had to be cut which means a longer recuperation period. His abdomen was full of "stuff" from a puncture/rupture. His blood pressure was 200/89 in recovery, and it took trying two different meds before it came down to 165/82. They are still not happy with his BP, so they will be adjusting dosages/meds to get it better under control. As of last night he still couldn't pass urine on his own, so they called in a specialist who decided to put in a foley catheter and start him on Flomax and Proscar. Tim hasn't had prostate problems previously, so I'm not sure what this all means. We are hoping to bring him home Christmas Eve if everything falls in place. Please keep him in your prayers.

When I went to visit him yesterday, he confessed that he had a Christmas suprise for me even though we weren't supposed to be exchanging gifts this year because we just went on a cruise after Thanksgiving, and are supposed to be going on the Carnival Inspiration on New Year's Eve. At this point, we are not sure if we will be able to go. We are just taking it a day at a time and will leave it up to his doctor to decide if Tim will be able to cruise that soon. Now on to the suprise....he bought a female bichon frise puppy for me and was going to suprise me with it on Christmas Eve. Now I have to pick her up myself Monday at noon, which means I have to run to the pet store this weekend and get all the stuff a puppy needs. I've wanted a puppy since we sent out last two bichons over the Rainbow Bridge in the last few years. We have been dogless for about 19 months. I am thrilled to be a Mommy again, but the timing couldn't be worse. Oh well, we will get through it. I can't wait see pick her up and snuggle her and smell her puppy breath. She was eight weeks old yesterday. Now we have to think of a name for our little precious one...any ideas?

All my cookie baking supplies are sitting on the kitchen table, and the laundry is piling up, so I better get off the computer and try to accomplish a few things around here before I head up to the hospital this morning.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

What a roller-coaster ride for you. First of all, prayers for DH's quick and uneventful recovery. Please keep us posted.

And, congrats on your new puppy. I hope she'll bring as much joy into your life as Pucci has brought to mine. Pucci was a gift and came to me much earlier than would have been ideal - BUT, I thank God each day for that adorable little creature. The love, affection and companionship he has brought me far outweigh the inconveniences I first had because he came earlier than anticipated.

Merry Christmas!

Prayers are on the way for your DH's speedy recovery! Not such a happy way to have Christmas though! :( Your new little puppy might just become his new little puppy. We got our little yorkie (Sergeant) just after my DH had surgery. He couldn't do much except lie on the couch at that time and our sweet little puppy spent a lot of time sleeping on his chest and cuddling with him. I of course spent all my time cleaning up after the puppy and trying to house break him while DH just enjoyed all the "good bits" :grin!!
