I'm also a pro balcony person.  I feel that I wouldn't have gotten as much nature watching out on the top decks.  I recall watching whales that were never announced.  We spend a lot of time on the balcony.

In Glacier bay when the ship rotated to the other side we then ran up to the upper decks.  Very crowded.

Try to make sure the balcony is covered as well.  We were still able to sit out in spite of rain.
