We're booked with Your Man Tours for a combination sightseeing by motor coach and cruise on the Volendam to Alaska. We have not traveled much in our 20 years of marriage due to owning our own business at times or just not having funds to go anyplace. I'd be interested if any of you wonderful folks have done this type of trip and what you thought of it. I imagine the title of this web sight means I'm going to find you'd rather cruise only, but thought I'd ask any way.

Also - is the water on the ship good to drink? Do they have bottled water? Is it free?

Let me start with the last question. Water on the ship is fine, probably purer than most bottled water. Yes they have bottle water,, no it isn't free..laughing,,, my wife gets the large bottles and I think they are about 2.50.

I have done the HAL Alaska Cruise/tour, and for the most part really enjoyed it... the cruise is fantastic I don't know where you can sail and see the scenery you will see on the inside passage, especially Glacier Bay.

My TA tried to talk me into doing the land tour first then the cruise, however, being the genus that I am I said no.... wish I had listened.... I was worn out after the tour. If it is not too late I would definitely tour then cruise back.

I wasn't overly impressed with Fairbanks, but thats me... the rest of the tour I did enjoy,,, Denali is not to be missed, try and have at least a couple of nights there.

Any questions feel free to email.

Thanks so much for the input. We're cruising first, from Vancouver. Then touring mostly in the North western states. We're not really gung-ho tourists-more into relaxing-so we don't feel that we have to do EVERY little tour that the tour group does. Since this is our first real vacation (20th anniversary) we plan not to stress over anything.
