Miss Honey, we are going on our cruise June 17th on the Radiance. We have booked the whale watching with Larry at Orca and they also booked our dogsled tour which is through Coastal. They took the information from us and sent it on to Coastal because Coastal said they dont normally start taking reservations until end of October or November. I know our TA told us we are booking way to soon because she said our itinerary can change or the ports may change but we are taking a chance because I dont want them to be sold out. I think the only one we will do through the ship will be White Pass Railway if I can get them because they dont let you book excursions until you are 30-120 days out. What days are you travelling in May?

That's just silly. The itinerary or ports will only change in an emergency (storm or mechanical delays can cause changes).

Thats what I figured too. I called to book the Whale excursion with Orca and she said its unusual that our ship is in the port of Juneau on June 20th which is a Tuesday. She said Royal Caribbean is usually in on Monday so that got me a little paranoid but that is what the itinerary says. I wosh I could get my tickets and boarding information sooner than two weeks before the cruise. I am keeping an open mind because I know whatever we do it will be beautiful in Alaska.

You're getting some bad advice from people who should know better. The Radiance is on a totally different itinerary in 2006 (a far better one, IMHO), and you are indeed going to be in Juneau on Tuesday. Boarding starts in Seward at about 2 p.m. - by about 3:30-4:00 it starts to get very busy, so early boarding has advantages as well as the disadvantage of seeing less of Seward if you arrive that day (a day aheda is MUCH better, as there is lots to do at Seward). Disembarking in Vancouver depends on what your schedule is from there (its all prioritized). And you're right about there being no bad Alaska cruise!

Murray, we are doing a 5 day land tour first and according to itinerary on our last day on land tour we will fly to Anchorage from Fairbanks then motorcoach down to Seward where we get on the Radiance. It shows boarding time as 9:00 PM. So I guess there will be no time for sightseeing in Seward this trip. How long of a trip is Anchorage down to Seward by motorcoach? It must be many hours since we are leaving in the morning for the flight to Anchorage?

Actually, the Radiance departs Seward at 9:00 p.m. - boarding will start at about 1:00. Anchorage to Seward is only 127 miles - how long it takes depends on which motorcoach you're on. Some do express runs in under 2 1/2 hours, others do a tour that takes up to 5 hours. I expect that you'll be on the express run, but you'll still want to board as soon as you get to Seward, which will probably be early afternoon. You may well have time to go into town after boarding, though.
