Interested in hearing about my options for booking some tours prior or on the docks for the following ports. Would like to stay away from booking through ship unless necessary.

Limon, Costa Rica
Panama Canal (we are doing a partial transit)
Belize
Grand Cayman (Have done the Sting Ray already, looking for something different.)
Cozumel (Thinking of Tulum Tour-off ship preferably)

Thanks for any suggestions regarding web-sites to view or the ease of booking when you arrive to the pier. Many times we just get off the ship and find someone offering tours. I am not sure about Limon, Belize and Panama Canal stops though.

Thank You!

Limon and Panama are pretty darn third-world scary. I went on ship-organized tour in Panama and felt safe enough, but we drove through some pretty nasty stuff to get there. I've been to Tijuana, Mexico several times and have never felt scared (even in outer areas where tourists don't go) but Limon and Panama made me feel like I'd better be part of a tour where people know where I am, who I'm with, etc. I don't know, could be I've seen too many movies but I had nightmares of getting in a cab and being delivered to guerillas in the jungles of Nicaragua or something. In Cozumel we ended up doing a 60-minute time share presentation at the huge resort right next to the dock (locals walking around dock with blue polo shirts and clipboards- if you stand around looking like you're not sure where you're going they'll come up to you) We quickly and politely got through it and we were allowed full use of their facilities: free snorkel gear, free lunch, one free alcoholic drink, unlimited soda, use of pool for the rest of the port time and we never paid for anything except a few more drinks.

Just back from Belize. The city itself is grungy. We took a tour on our own to Caye Chalker. A 45 minutes water taxi ride. Left outside the gates. 17.50 round trip. Beautiful Island. Not many tourist. Go to the end called the split. A area of the island that was split in two by a hurricane in 1961. Great place to snorkel. Don`t forget to have a lizzard juice at the bar , awsome.

Well I haven't been to all of your ports but in Belize we rebooked with x-stream for cave tubing I think you can find a few operators when you get off of the ship but X-stream you need to book ahead as they fill up. They only take 14 at a time because they do a few more caves.

We too will be doing the canal cruise NEXT week. I have pre reserved the Lumnhai trip and the ocean to ocean experience in Panama and the jungle tree top tram excursion in Costa Rica. As for Cozumel we have been to the ruins of Tulum (loved it) so will go with the dolphin adventure. Princess notified us that we would not be stopping in Grand Cayman. We have already spent time on the island and done the sting ray swim. Any suggestions of what to bring along or clothes to wear on those jungle excursions would be helpful. This is our FIRST OCEAN cruise.
