HI

I'm going to Grand Caymen the week of sept 7th... We are going on Voyager of the Seas and we would like to do the Stingray excursion but the cruiseline is very expensive. I just wanted to know if anyone booked their excursions with local people and what their experience was.

Thanks for any info you can give me...

www.captainmarvins.com is the way to go, they are cheap and they have lots of choices from length of cruise and time of day!

Happy Cruising!!!
Radiance of the Seas back to back 11/23 and 11/30 in 119 days!!!!!

From what the others say, Cap'n Marvins is the way to go!

Whatever you do, DON'T go on the "personalized stingray tour" that you can purchase from the ship. Fortunately, RCI refunded my money from my poor experience that I had with them last May. It's a good thing the stingrays are friendly!

Most shore excursions that you buy from the ship are very good, however.

Captain Marvin's is definitely the way to go! When you're out there looking at the ship-run excursions and see 150 people on a 2 level boat, you'll be grateful that you're out on a private, 12-15 person trip! We were taken to 2 reefs and then to Stingray City. Cold fruit punch and bottled water, snorkel gear and vests included. Don't forget your underwater cameras!

We did Captain Marvins with our 4 & 7 yr old sons and had a great time. Boat was less crowded and a lot of personalized attention. The captain carried my 7 yr old around in the water since he was afraid and helped him feed the stingrays. It was $108 for the whole family and that included a snorkel stop.

Kristen - we are on the same cruise that week with you - my group is going with Soto's Cruises - 3 stops -$19.00, so we feel for that price, we can't go wrong.

Last year aboard the Voyager we did the tour with www.Nativewaywatersports.com, they were great and best of all, we reserved online and PAID when the tour was OVER! It was easy and reasonable, and some of the stingrays actually seem to know some of the dive guides, must be all the squid they bring on a daily basis! Our guide held one called Stumpy for kiss-and-show pictures...they are the highlight of our photo album! Take a good underwater camera and capture those memories!

We've booked with Snorkelers Dream Catamaran We found it to be the best deal out there.

Snorkelers Dream is a 47ft catamaran that goes on a 3-1/2 hr trip that includes 3 snorkeling stops, one being stingray city sand bar and you get to sail on a catamaran as well. I love catamarans and sailboats, we've done Captain Bryans Catamaran trip too and it was wonderful.

The Snorkelers Dream is only $34 for adults and $20 for our kids which is an awesome price especially for a catamaran. I personally will take a roomy catamaran to a over crowded motor boat any day..but thats just my personal opinion:)

On this tour were you nervous booking it on your own and not with the cruiseline? This one seems to be what my husband and I may want to do.

Not at all nervous as we've used the company the books them before and they have recommendations all over this board and the other cruising boards. Just make sure that you remember your confirmations as they give you all the info you'll need. Happy snorkeling:)

So if I am hearing everyone correctly..it is better to schedule the Stingray Tour not with the cruiseline but with a private party instead? I have booked on Princess Grand; theirs include a sightseeing tour also; still a better deal to book elsewhere other than ship?
