Hey everyone just got back today form 8 night cruise on Explorer Of The Seas. We went May 9 to the 17. Had a great time.We arrived at the port between 11:30-12:00 It was pouring down rain so it was a little crazy at the luggage drop off. It was all women in my truck I drove to the port . 6 Of us. All our suitcases were in the back of the pick up with the cover of the truck over top I'm glad we had that or everything would have been wet. I asked the guys who takes your suitcases if He could get in back of my truck and unload, I said I would give him a big tip. Since we had all women and it was really pouring down rain we figured the guy could help us. He than asked me if I had a hook to pull the suitcases out of the back bed of the truck He did take a few things off in the front. I said I don't usually carry hooks and he responded oh well guess your gonna have to do it yourself. I had to slide in on my stomach at the front of the bed by myself to finish. While I got soaked and dirty. He was really rude. When we did tip him $10.00 which I though was alot, he really didn't help me too much, he responded "Oh it this all I'm going to get. Its not mandatory that you tip and there are signs that say it too. I than said since I did most of the work myself he should give it back than for being so rude. Well other than him being so rude everything else with the check in went very smooth. We were on the ship by about 12:45
Went to the windjammer had lunch and were in our rooms by 2:00. We never sailed out of Cape Liberty before but the first 24 hours was really rough. They have barf bags everywhere on the ship. One of the employees said it was the worst he experienced in May since he started working on Explorer. I don't get sea sick I love the rocking puts me right to sleep. But a few of my friends were very sick. They had patches and put them on and felt great after a few hours. So if you get sea sick or think you might need it do yourself a favor and get them from your Doctor.
We had a Promenade Room on the 6th floor right over the Cafe Promenade and Ben & Jerry's. It's a great room if you like to people watch. The room was nice size and the beds were very comfortable. The staff on board were great, couldn't do enough for you. Our Room Stewart was the best and this was my 6th cruise on Royal Caribbean. Our Waiter was also the best. Very personable and went out of his way for us. The food was good but being my 6th cruise I found that the food wasn't as good as the other ships I have been on. Especially Navigator Of The Seas. I still think it was wonderful and if you can't find something you like to eat somethings very wrong with you.
The shows were great. The group of guys who sung Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons were awesome. We actually hung with them at the piano bar a couple nights. Great sing a longs there. The Schooner Bar it's called. Steve played the piano and sung and everyone sung along we had a great time. The comedians were good. And don't miss the Ice Show it was great. Make sure you get your tickets early they run out. There are 2 ice shows. They had 2 parades in the promenade and that was fun to watch, especially from my stateroom it was great I didn't had to stand with the crowds. Sat on my window seat in my room and saw everything.
I don't have any bad things to say about Explorer we all had a great time. Leaving the ship took about 2 hours so just be patient grab a chair in one of the lounges and read a book or something, theres no sence in getting upset because you have to wait a while theres over 3000 people that have to get off the ship. Hope you have a great cruse
