Does everyone think the easiest way to get from LaGuardia to the NCL Pier is just take a taxi?
And if so, is there a certain section of the pier to ask to be let off?
Thanks,
Earle

HI
I WONT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU BUT, I AM WONDERING THE SAME THING. I CRUISE 3-5-06 AND WONDER WHICH AIRPORT TO FLY INOT-NEWARK NJ I WAS TOLD IS CLOSEST TO THE PIER? MY FLIGHT DOESNT GET INTO NYC AREA TILL NOON, SO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET TO PIER? IF ANYONE KNOWS, THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

Earle, I've made this trip numerous times and agree that a taxi is your best bet. The fare should be in the range of $40-$50 (per taxi, not per person) and can take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, dependent upon traffic. Usually, all the driver will need is the name of the ship, but have the pier number handy just in case. This will be included with your documents.

Stephanie, sorry -- I've never flown into Newark. I'll see what I can find out.

In any case, when returning to the airport by taxi after the cruise is over, the pier becomes a real nightmare due to the crowds, and the wait for a taxi can be an hour or more. I'd suggest walking across 12th Avenue heading in the direction of 11th Avenue, where you will very likely find a taxi quickly.

This is a great link for those cruising into/out of New York: http://www.nypst.com/ . It's the official Web site of the New York Passenger Ship Terminal and has a lot of useful information.

Thanks so much for the info, that really helps. I am going to check that website out. We are flying into Lagardia at noon, is this plenty of time to get to ship is it sails at 5:00?I am a novice at this, and just want to be prepared. Thanks do much

oh, ya our flight on way home doesnt leave till like 5 or 6, so we will just wait to get iff boat till crowd ceases a bit, otherwise thnaks for the idea of going to 12th to pick up taxi if busy.

NCL offers transportation from LaGuadia and Newark, but NOT from JFK. If you call NCL they will be able to help you.

Re: NYC Airport to Pier

Another way to get to the NCL pier in New York City:

Fly into Newark
Take AMTRAK from the Newark Airport AMTRAK Station to Penn Station in New York City(www.amtrak.com for tickets and info.

The piers are about 5-10 minutes from NYP New York Penn Station to the Hudson River. It's a straight shot down 34th street to the West Side Highway.

Taxis from either LaGuardia or JFK are dirty, often cramped.

At Newark Airport, the intra-airport shuttle train takes you from the terminal directly to the COVERED Amtrak platforms, which are at the airport perimeter. It's EASY.

Aloha from an ex-New Yorker!
