Transfer from Orlando to Canaveral

I'm cruising in October of 2004 and have had the Carnival transfer in the past. I am interested in taking a cab from Orlando to Port Canaveral to try to get to the ship a little early. Does anyone have a general knowledge on the price for this. I understand that the cost is not set in stone. Just a little research. Thanks!

We will be cruising on the Glory in Oct. '04 from Port Canaveral. May I ask why you are not opting for the Carnival transfer on this cruise? This will be our first, so I am trying to get informed. I found several private transportation firms on the Orlando Airport web site http://www.orlando-mco.com/transportation.html

This might give you some places to look.

We are used Basikshuttle.com and they were outstanding!

There are many reputable companies in Orlando that will take you from the airport to the cruise terminal. But one word of warning - do your homework! I learned the hard way.........STAY AWAY FROM YOURIDE.NET. They will tack on "extras" to the quote they give and they are basically unprofessional.

We don't use the Carnival Transfers anymore. We always fly in a day early. In the past we would then take the airport shuttle back to the airport the next day and have them drop us off at the baggage claim area to get on the Carnival Bus. We have found that we don't like having to wait for the bus to fill up before it leaves for the Port. The buses are sometimes rather uncomfortable. Also, for many Florida ports, they are close to the airport and / or the hotel where we are staying and it ends up being cheaper to take a taxi. Then on the return trip, again they have to fill up each Carnival bus before it will leave to go back to the airport. In the case of Orlando and Port Canaveral -- a good distance between the airport and cruiseport, we are hiring a private shuttle service -- Art's Shuttle -- for private transportation from airport to our hotel the day before, then taking the hotel shuttle or a taxi to the port -- then Art's Shuttle from the ship to the airport on the way back. No waiting for anyone else. Just our party.

For us, the carnival bus was great. I enjoyed knowing that when I get off the ship, and need a ride back to the airport, I have one. I would be a little weary of not knowing if my outside shuttle service would be there waiting for me.

Many on this board have experience with Art's Shuttle and Mears and have had no problems whatsoever.

I had my first cruise on the Carnival Victory in March '03. On this cruise we used the transfer. It was ok, but a lot of waiting for the buses to load and a little disorganized. I'm still uncertain if I will set up different transfer or use Carnival's. The one benefit of Carnival's is you know it is a set deal and you don't have to worry if your own private transfer choice will be there on time. On the other hand your own private choice can be less crowded and also get you to the ship earlier for possible earlier embarkation. Either way, I hope you enjoy the cruise. Maybe our groups could get together for a drink while on board. Whatever you decide, remember first and foremost, ENJOY!!! Don't let any minor inconveniences ruin your hard worked for vacation!
