Transportation: Tampa cruise port to Airport (TPA)

What public transportation is available from the Tampa, Florida cruise terminal to the Tampa airport? We have a short schedule, thus may be linited to a taxi. What would be the cost of a taxi vs other public transportation? Thanks.

It has been about nine months since we cruised out of Tampa, but i doubt that the ground transport has changed. When we docked at the cruise terminal in Tampa there was an individual located just outside the customs area that was selling tickets for the airport shuttle vans. We purchased two $9.00 tickets and were directed to a nine passenger van across the street. We boarded the van immediately and were on our way to the airport within 15 minutes of getting our bags. The vans are radio dispatched and the trip is only some 15 or 20 minutes. I checked on the taxi service prior to the cruise and I believe the fare was about $20.00. We saw about a half dozen vans at the terminal and the airport so they should not require a lengthy wait.
