Has anyone used the passport card for travel documentation when cruising yet? I was looking at the official passport website and it looks like this is a much cheaper option.

The travel card is designed for people who commute across the border on a regular basis. You can travel with it; but, it's only good for re-entry to the US via foot or vehicle ..... NOT air. So, if you go that route to save a few dollars, be prepared for major expense/hassle if an emergency arrises and you have to leave your cruise early and fly home. Yeah, it does happen.....

My husband and I just obtained our passport cards. I work in local government and the passport card is just fine for cruising.

I would just bite the bullet and get the regular passport. Why spend money on something that won't give you full access. For a few extra $ you won't have to ever worry if your card will be good for here or there. The passport is good for 10 years and once you cruise you may get the cruise bug and want to take more. You will be good to go!

I would also not want to ever be in an emergency situation and not the right documents to get home.
