Traveling in a group/ balcony guarantee

Hello all :)

I am completely excited about my first cruise (and 1st trip out of the contry) this comming December. I will be on the Valor on Dec 10th, going to the exotic western caribbean.

At any rate, I am just curious if anyone has done a guarantee room rather than assigned when traveling in a group. We are a small group, and found that the prices were so good on the balcony rooms that we wanted to jump at the opportunity. There are a total of 6 of us, each couple with their own balcony guarantee.

We were told that we'd be eating together, and that every effort would be made to keep the cabins near by. Never having cruised before, I am not sure what to expect. I was hoping that perhaps some of you had 1st hand experiences that you could share. For example, did you and your group end up on the same deck? Spread out all over the place?

Thanks in advance!

We booked as a group and were spread all over the same deck. Some on the forward-- some midship and myuself and another cabin on the aft.
no upgrade either.

is it really important that your cabins be all together?

I am sure we are in for a wonderful experience no matter where we end up on the ship. We will have out dinning set together, excursions, etc so its really no big deal to me. Some other members of my party seem more concerned with that, ,so I figured it was worth asking :)

Thanks so much for your response!

Hi,

From previous knowledge here, if you want the group together then book assinged rooms. If you look at a map of the ship you may find one or two oversized rooms in the aft. Anyway, if you are looking for the gurantee, than you can be upgraded depending on many things that happen behind the scenes with the cruise line. Remember that they have to first accomodate the assingees, and the handicapped, and the 4 and 3 passengers to a room and imho who paid how far ahead. With the guaranteed, you are only guranteed NO LESS than the deck you paid for. Five out of my six previous cruises have been upgraded or placement on an higher deck. In my last 2 cruises on the Conquest, I paid for 8A gty and both times landed up on the lido deck. Some people may not like that 9th deck, but we loved it.

Your excellent attitude will in itself make the cruise enjoyable. Good cruising!!

We sailed on the Conquest in Aug 2004 as a group of 8. We were 4 couples. To gaurantee being together, we booked 4 adjoining balcony rooms. The nice part about this is that the room stewards opened up all the walls between the 4 balconies, making one long 40 foot balcony for us. It was great.

Oh how neat! I never would have thought of that :) Maybe we'll luck out and end up with a room next to eachother.

I'll be happy no matter what. I can't wait to cruise for the first time! Anything above and beyond that is just icing on the cake!

Thank you for your response

I am so glad you asked that question!

My husband and I and three other couples cruise on the Valor in Sept. Since we are past Carnival guests, we have a cabin number already, but the three other couples will be assigned later in the year. We figure we'll all do our own excursions during the day and have dinner and the night to spend with each other.

Our thought is that no matter where we are, we'll all have a blast!!

Enjoy your cruise!!

Mooneydiva-I was wondering how you got your cabin already? We are past guest and are booked in DEC. I was just wondering if it is possible to find our cabin?

OhioEdge, I booked through a Carnival Personal Vacation Planner, and I booked over Presidents' Day to get an upgrade special they were offering then. The PVP told me that he was putting us in a certain cabin at that time.

I actually am trying to get the number switched because it is so far to the front of the ship and I am very sensitive to motion. :help

BTW, we are from Ohio originally. . . .Columbus area most recently, and son lives in Cincy!! Most of the friends going on this cruise with us are from Ohio!!

Have fun!!
